Service Description: The Major Ports dataset is as of December 17, 2019, and is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics's (BTS's) National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). The Major Ports are politically defined by port limits or Corps projects, excluding non-Corps projects not authorized for publication. The determination for the published Major/Principal Ports is based upon the total tonnage for the port for the particular year; therefore the top 150 list can vary from year to year. These data show Major Ports in 2016. The Principal Port dataset contains USACE port codes, geographic locations (longitude, latitude), names, and commodity tonnage summaries (total tons, domestic, foreign, imports and exports) for Principal USACE Ports.
